ASCEND

For this project, the product owner specified he wanted an interactable “platformer” game. I conducted some user research (interviews with gamers who prefer platformers) and detected that the main objectives these users were looking for:

  • Interacting with other players

  • Ability to help or sabotage other players

  • Collecting points

  • Rankings to compare performance

Sadly, the product owner was adamant on changing his original design which included none of mechanics above. Using the PO requests and the data collected through the User research, I started prototyping 2 different designs to do some Multivariate testing.

The PO was able to see how users felt frustrated and bored using the original idea, and instead felt competitive and immersed in the second prototype which was made according to the market’s expectations. He was able to change his mind and move forward with the second design.
